Greco di Tufo is a DOCG of the Campania wine region in southern Italy. It is responsible for what is arguably the region's most prestigious white wine, made predominantly from the grape variety that shares its name. Greco di Tufo is a refreshing, crisp wine that is known for its aromatic notes of lemons, pears, apple and toasted almonds and a lingering mineral finish.
Vermentino is one of Italy’s great white grape varieties, that would never disappoint you! Vermentino from a maritime climate tends to display a minerality or saltiness in the finish as though you are experiencing the tanginess of the Mediterraneum sea. The salty fresh sea breeze helps to keep the grapes healthy and happy. It is the perfect white wine to sip at the beach, by itself as an aperitif or paired with wonderful seafood. Vermentino can be found in a number of different regions in Italy including Liguria, Sardinia and Tuscany. Vermentino from Cantine Calleri is from the western side of Liguria, called Riviera Ligure di Ponente (DOC).
The wine shows a light straw color. The nose expresses lychee, pineapple and pear with a hint of jasmine and limestone. On the palate, lychee and jasmine are complemented by racy acidity
Citrus and floral on the nose, honeydew melon and lychee on the palate and a crisp clean finish make this a wine which pairs well with nearly any dish--but is great all by itself!
From Marcello Calleri in the small village of Salea, the Ligurian hometown of the indigenous Pigato grape that won't grow anywhere else outside the Riviera Ligure di Ponente (DOC appellation). Bouquet of summer herbs, wild flowers, broom plants and Mediterranean shrubs, then warm and silky, like liquid gold on the first palate, with savory and salty accents like the land and the sea it comes from, showing outstanding concentration and integration, firm structure, and finally the long finish is all about a sea breeze. Pairs with seafood, white meats, salads and pastas - try it with oysters, olive tapenade appetizers, or creamy pesto linguine.
