From Marcello Calleri in the small village of Salea, the Ligurian hometown of the indigenous Pigato grape that won't grow anywhere else outside the Riviera Ligure di Ponente (DOC appellation). Bouquet of summer herbs, wild flowers, broom plants and Mediterranean shrubs, then warm and silky, like liquid gold on the first palate, with savory and salty accents like the land and the sea it comes from, showing outstanding concentration and integration, firm structure, and finally the long finish is all about a sea breeze. Pairs with seafood, white meats, salads and pastas - try it with oysters, olive tapenade appetizers, or creamy pesto linguine.
I have only a small batch, and the only batch in the United States.
Rated top score "3 bicchieri" by Gambero Rosso, the leading Food and Beverage publisher in Italy, a feat only reached by 476 Italian wines in 2022, over a total 25,417 wines rated (top 2%) and the only white from the Riviera Ligure di Ponente to obtain the 3 bicchieri that year.
